🌟 What a fantastic day at Derby University! 🌟
Just before Christmas, some of our amazing pupils had the opportunity to take part in the Special Olympics Motor Activity Training Programme (MATP) at Derby University, and what an incredible experience it was!
MATP is a wonderful programme that provides genuine opportunities for training and competition for individuals with Complex Support Needs. It focuses on abilities rather than limitations, enabling our athletes to work on and showcase their motor skills and sporting achievements in ways that are meaningful and realistic for them. Every activity is tailored to the individual, ensuring everyone can participate and shine in their own way.
Our pupils had an absolutely brilliant day, taking part in various activities, demonstrating their skills, and most importantly, having fun! The smiles on their faces said it all.
We're so proud of every single pupil who took part and grateful to the Special Olympics and Derby University for providing such inclusive and empowering opportunities for our young people.

Our amazing Teaching Assistant, Stephanie Meehan, is taking on an epic challenge—the London Marathon 2026! 🎉 After 12 years of loving every minute at Alfreton Park School, she’s decided to lace up her running shoes and tackle those 26.2 miles!
But here’s the best part—she’s doing it for our incredible pupils! 💚All the funds raised will go towards sensory toys and resources that will help our wonderful children and young adults learn and grow.

The boys have done it!!
Today, the boys have finished their mammoth challenge of swimming the distance of the English Channel! It has been a long a gruelling 10 weeks for them but they have absolutely smashed it!
We are all so proud of their achievement and it has been so amazing watching them progress over the last 10 weeks! The togetherness and determination you have shown has been inspirational.

Willow Class Learns About People Who Help Us! 🐾💚
Willow Class have been exploring an exciting topic - people who help us in our community, with a special focus on those who care for animals, like vets!
The pupils had a wonderful time spending time with Hugo in small groups. They gently stroked and brushed him, took him for walks, and some even shared their favourite stories by reading to him.

What a fantastic day out for Oak Class! 🌟💚
Despite some dreary weather, our pupils had a wonderful trip to East Midlands Designer Outlet using public transport. From studying bus timetables and planning our route to successfully navigating the journey on the day, our pupils demonstrated brilliant progress with their independent living and community inclusion skills!
As part of our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum, we gave one group the opportunity to explore the outlet independently - and we were so impressed by how responsibly and maturely they handled this!

🎯🌟💚 Swim the Channel for Alfreton Park School! 🎯🌟💚
The boys were back at it last Friday with another unbelievable effort! Due to other events we have had to make up sessions on alternative days so I apologise for the lack of updates!
What I can say, is that each and every one of them is putting 100% effort in to reach their end target.
We are so close now, with only 3 sessions to go! The fundraising target is also in sight and it would be great if you could share this post so we can reach the target that we have set!
