Happiness and Wellbeing at Our Roots
Alfreton Park is a local authority maintained special school.
We take pupils from 2 to 19 years of age who have a range of learning difficulties from severe to profound. Additionally, around half of our pupils are on the autistic spectrum.
Our curriculum is focused on meeting the individual learning needs of our pupils and ensuring that they are ready for the next stage in their life. We believe that our pupils learn best when the activities are exciting, varied and person centred; taking into consideration individual strengths, interests and barriers to learning.
All of our pupils’ needs must be met if they are to learn and we focus on ensuring that pupils are ready to learn; physically and emotionally.
Supporting the families of our pupils is essential to ensure that our pupils develop effectively, and our family support worker is a vital part of our school team. Working with other agencies to ensure that pupils health and social care needs are met is important part of the support we provide.
Alfreton Park School’s vision is that pupils, staff, families and the local community collectively learn and progress together in a stimulating, safe and supportive environment, reaching their maximum potential in all aspects of their life.
