Our Careers Programme:
At our school, we are committed to preparing every pupil for a happy, fulfilling, and purposeful future. Our careers programme is designed to support learners from Early Years through to Post-16, ensuring that all young people develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need for adulthood.
What Our Careers Programme Includes
A clear, structured approach to learning
Our careers curriculum is built around meaningful learning outcomes that help pupils develop essential life and work skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making.
A strong focus on the four Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) areas
- Employment: building aspirations and understanding different jobs.
- Independent Living: developing life skills and growing independence.
- Community Inclusion: taking part in community activities and understanding social roles.
- Health: supporting wellbeing, resilience, and self-regulation.
A progressive careers journey from Early Years to Post-16
Pupils explore different roles, try new experiences, and prepare for their next steps through a carefully sequenced programme that grows with them.
Specialist careers programmes for SEND learners
We use the Talentino and Bambino programmes to make sure careers education is age-appropriate, engaging, and accessible for pupils with a wide range of needs.
Development of essential skills
Our work is linked to the Skills Builder Framework, helping pupils build key skills such as Listening, Speaking, Leadership, Teamwork, Staying Positive, and Aiming High.
Real experiences of the world beyond school
Pupils take part in activities such as:
- Visits from employers and community organisations
- Supported work experience
- College taster sessions
- Enterprise projects
- Careers fairs and themed events
These experiences help pupils discover their interests and strengths in meaningful, supported ways.
A whole-school approach
All staff play an important role in delivering careers learning, supported by clear leadership and curriculum planning.
Ongoing evaluation
We regularly review our programme through staff reflection, pupil voice, parental feedback, and monitoring destinations to ensure the programme remains relevant and impactful.
Support for parents and carers
We work closely with families to help them understand future pathways and make well-informed decisions about college, training, employment, or supported options.
